There’s no denying it, food is good. That’s certainly a big reason why we all read these blogs and write in them, our love of food. A few minutes ago I was snacking on the leftover sauce from the chicken cordon bleu, and wondering what to do with some of my Christmas money. There are some socks I want, a few books, some kitchen gadgets… and I sent a flock of chickens to somebody who needs them. If you’re really enjoying your meal today, and you have a little cash on hand (which I know it’s hard to have), there are some other folk who could use some help too.
The Heifer Project helps people by sending them seeds, livestick, and training, so that they can raise animals and crops to feed their families, and pass on your gift to their neighbours, friends, and the rest of the world just like you gave them. It ain’t expensive either, 20 bucks of some Christmas money given to me sent other people a whole flock of chickens. Please give it a look y’all, it’s a great program!

If this isn’t a good way to start off a new year, what is? A new cookie jar and mug from Target, with my favourite thing!

These are a few pics of some of the gifts we’re giving. Cookies got decorated, and the paper has been painted.

The tart’s attempts at construction ended up working. It wasn’t going well at first, the housing authorities got rather upset after the walls ended up smushed under the roof more than once, but there’s no proof of that in pictures.

… and all through the house, it fell down. Twice. Apparently the icing I chose wasn’t the right stickiness to keep the gingerbread house together. There’s aren’t any pics yet of what I’ve gotten done, mainly because I haven’t had time to take any. The tart will try to get some tonight, to put them up for some feeling of success. It feels very frustrating right now, but that’s probably temporary and things will feel very nice again Tuesday.

The house is looking good, dinner is on, and things are going ok enough. There’s a few days to get everything done in, and I was gonna start things today. Instad, what seemed more comfortable was to clean the house very well. with a little bit of effort, I can probably minimize the mess and enjoy the baking more. It’s not that I don’t enjoy it, I love doing this sort of thing. Want to try to take pics of the things I make, so that if anybody else reads this at all they can chuckle at my attempts to be Donna Reed with a drawl.

The visit was really fun! There was much gift giving, snacking, and nothing I cooked went south. The house looked beautiful, the mom raved about it, and all in all it was a really good time. The whole time it seemed like we were either eating or laughing, and that’s how it should be.

It’s time to get to work on the new gift bags now, and I won’t say that I’m not looking forward to it. Been learning so much getting these done, and that’s more valuable than any other gift I could get. This idea of making a business may work yet, if people like what I do.

The mom and g-ma are visiting today. Much cleaning and baking so that I can pretend like I didn’t do anything special. Gonna take pics, so that anything I managed to get right today isn’t lost.

Haven’t written in forever, but I’m gonna try to make this an account of things as they happen. Thanksgiving went pretty well, it was very pleasent and the breadcameout perfect. The only thng I wasn’t happy with was the reen bean casserole, and that didn’t taste as good because I used the low sodium cream of mushroom soup. Usually that’s fine, but for a special occassion I’ll use the normal one. Now it’s officially the Christmas season, and I’ve volunteered to make hand made gift bags for everybody to try to save some money. The first two were supposed to have a week and a half to make, but the date was wrong and I had two and half days to make them. The result wasn’t what I was hoping for, but I did pretty well considering. This is what I put in there.

In fact, this time I’m gonna try to take pics of everything as I go along, cleaning, sewing, all of the cooking. Mom and G-Ma are coming this weekend, so it’s gonna be a scramble to get everything done. The house isn’t in good shape right now, it really got messed up when I had to do everything last week.
